History of the usage of Military Aircraft  |  Aircraft Series  |  By Justin Schatzki
The air war in the early days of the war always favored the
Axis Forces. This was due to the ignorance of the (nations
that would become the) Allied Forces of the potential of aircraft.
Military aircraft design had been limited before the war, although there had been some advances in civilian aircraft, and this also had an affect on pilot performance.
On the other hand, the Air forces of the Axis, such as the Luftwaffe, had extensively designed many aircraft and put them to use immediately. The German pilots also received excellent training for
the battles to come, and when these battles were won, the surviving Luftwaffe pilots had become battle-hardened veterans who were now expertly skilled in the use of military aircraft.
